Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Students, Staff, and the entire Sedway Middle School Community:

I am both elated and honored to serve as your new principal of Marvin Sedway Middle School. I would like to take this opportunity to share my personal and educational background. I was born and raised and attended K-12 public education in Las Vegas, Nevada. I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at UNLV. I am in my twenty-fifth year of service with the Clark County School District. I have over fifteen years of experience as an administrator. I was a teacher at Brinley Middle School and at the Advanced Technologies Academy. I transitioned and became a dean at Western High School, and I was an assistant principal at Cheyenne High School. I am happy to say we were successful in closing the achievements gaps at the aforementioned schools.

My goal at Sedway is to develop an environment where learning thrives and students are successful. My beliefs are simple, “Learning for all” and “Every student learning and achieving.” I believe it’s important to provide each and every student the best possible education based on their learning style and abilities. I vow to set high expectations for my students and staff to ensure the best education possible for your child. I will provide all students with an equitable, challenging, and rewarding experience through participation in activities. I will work to employ the best instructional strategies to improve student achievement.

I look forward to partnering with you to ensure your child is successful and is prepared for their next big step in life, high school. Through collaboration and by engaging all educators, students, and parents we will continue to make great strides. Sedway has a rich tradition of integrating the latest technology to engage all students, and I plan to continue this tradition. Our motto at Sedway is “Hard work equals fun times.” I’m confident that if we work together, your child will excel and reach their endeavors. Together, we can make a difference, and I look forward to working with you in developing a positive, working relationship.

With Warmest Regards,

Chareece Sheppard
Principal, Sedway Middle School
